About this project
This project will improve cultural knowledge of the Outer Barrier Islands and protect priority sites from climate change impacts.
This project has two key components:
- To improve the cultural knowledge of the outer Barrier Islands through archaeological surveys.
- To use climate change and human impact modelling data that Monash University produced for GLaWAC to protect priority sites of cultural significance across the Gippsland Lakes.
This will involve:
- Assessing critical places on Gunaikurnai Country that are currently under threat from shoreline erosion or human impacts.
- Where needed, implement on ground works to protect, enhance, or build resilience in high value places.
This project will increase understanding of the cultural values throughout the Outer Barrier Islands and complete erosion control works at priority sites.
