Water quality is an important indicator of wetland health. The Gippsland Lakes Ramsar site has a series of freshwater, brackish and variability saline wetlands that support a significant number of waterbirds and frog species.
About the project
This project will monitor and assess the water quality in fringing and brackish wetlands Macleod Morass, Sale Common, Dowd Morass and Heart Morass.
This project:
- Monitors and assesses the water quality across all wetland types using available data.
- Assists in assessing the current status of the ecological character of the Gippsland Lakes Ramsar Site.
- Makes an assessment against the two Limits of Acceptable Change for water quality as outlined in the Gippsland Lakes Ecological Character Description for the Ramsar site.
