This project will improve habitat condition and availability on Flannagan Island which will support critical migratory and wading bird species in the Gippsland Lakes. This will be achieved by targeting priority pest plant and animal species, resulting in continued opportunities for the natural regeneration of native vegetation on Flannagan Island.

About the project

This project will continue to enhance habitat for migratory and wading birds by undertaking maintenance activities on Flannagan Island which is protected under a conservation covenant. This project will build on previous restoration works delivered by Trust for Nature.

Trust for Nature will lead the planning and delivery of this project and work in partnership with Gunaukurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC), landholders and contractors to deliver weed control, site assessments, monitoring and pest animal control.
