This multi-faceted project will restore habitat and wildlife populations at Macleod Morass

About the project

Macleod Morass on the outskirts of Bairnsdale is a significant freshwater wetland.

This project will include:

  • Restoring habitat and populations of threatened frogs and fish including Green and Golden Bell Frogs and Dwarf Galaxias.
  • Pest plant and animal control at Macleod Morass and Jones Bay Wildlife Reserve and on the northern arm of the Mitchell River Silt Jetties.
  • Repair of an eroded section of the destruction channel to improve water quality.
  • Revegetation to enhance habitat and ongoing bird and vegetation surveys.
